GEM provides a planned program of activities tailored to the interest and needs of each resident. Activities include something for everyone — arts and crafts, exercise classes, movies, bingo, religious services and current events just to name a few. Our activity department also plans special events and day trips out of the facility. The Activity Director meets with each new resident to develop a plan that includes their preferred interests.

Specific activities include:

  • An active resident and family council and volunteer program
  • Musical performances
  • Current events update
  • Reading the newspaper
  • Singing exercises
  • Fitness activities
  • Stretching exercises
  • Religious meetings
  • Entertainment
  • Games
  • Trivia
  • History
  • Gardening
  • Field trips/outings
  • Volunteer involvement

GEM residents enjoy appetizing, nutritious meals, which are prepared under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian. Special diets, as well as personal preferences, are considered. Feeding assistance is given as necessary and personal feeding retraining is offered to those residents who will benefit. Therapeutic diets are provided with a physician’s orders. Those residents not on a therapeutic diet can choose from a delicious range of dishes that rotate daily.  And if the day’s traditional selection is not someone’s favorite, they can order from the Always Available menu.
